fitness sport

My family enjoys taking a bike ride at least one afternoon every weekend. Especially now, when the weather is a little cooler and there may actually be a breeze in the air. Our bikes never really gather dust, that is how much we ride.

 
It is not only fun for us as a family unit but I look at it as a fitness sport as well. I like to ride as a fitness sport because I enjoy being outdoors, the fresh air, the sunshine, being with my family and getting some much needed cardiovascular exercise. What more could a middle aged mother of three want in life?

Now, don't mention bike riding and fitness sport in the same sentence around my children. That may taint their desire for this fun family outing. They like the outdoors and riding as much as I do although they just think it is fun. I'd like to keep it that way!

I have equipped my bike with a special meter that tracks how far we have gone and the calories burned. That is my own personal measure of how well this fitness sport is working for me, well that and how my jeans fit!
