If I were looking to try a healthy, low impact fitness sport I would choose swimming. Unlike many fitness sports activities that require days and weeks of suffering through sore muscles until you are in shape, swimming is a good way to work towards a healthy, fit body without all the strain and pain of many sporting activities. I learned to swim as a young child and while I have not been using swimming as a fitness sport for many years I am sure jumping in the pool at the local fitness club and going for a swim would not result in the sore muscles normally associated with beginning to lift weights. Swimming is also one of the best fitness sport activities for working on good aerobic health. The resistance of the water works all the bodies muscle groups in a more natural way the lifting weights so you can have a good workout and know you are using all your muscles. My daughters and grandchildren all enjoy swimming and maybe this summer I will join them.
